Biography

Painter, printmaker, sculptor, installation artist, graduated from Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Sztuk Plastycznych (the Academy of Fine Arts) in Poznań. He received his diploma in sculpture studio of Basil Wojtowicz, but at the same time he was studying painting independently. Since 1964 he has worked as a teacher at the Department of Interior Design at the Academy of Fine Arts. The multithreading work of Berdyszak is combined with his theoretical approach to the art. Works of art, created in cycles, develop the philosophical questions engaged by the artist. Berdyszak compiles and integrates variety of forms of expression, beyond their original and basic meaning. In his work he also considers issues of emptiness, space, darkness, infinity or transparency. Parallelly to his artistic activity, Berdyszak made scenography for theatrical spectacles. His initial experiments in painting were focused on syntheis of  forms, which had their result in abstract art. Subsequent step of his artistic researches realted to pictorial and spatial issues, as well as the relationship of sculpture to painting.P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; }
